About a
Biomechanical Assessment
This full body global assessment examines your posture, alignment, ranges of motion, and functional movements (such as squat/lunge, grip strength, and balance). The assessment reveals which areas you can proactively address to improve your current movement patterns, reduce injury risk, and prevent future movement issues.

Important: A biomechanical assessment is not suitable if you have a pre-existing injury which requires treatment, or current undiagnosed pain/problem which requires specific assessment and investigation. Please book an Osteopathy appointment in this instance.

What is a Biomechanical Assessment?
A biomechanical assessment looks at your body as an integrated system. It's not focused on a single point of pain, but on the complex relationship between your bones, joints, muscles, and nervous system as you move.

Think of it as a 'movement audit'. We identify how you stand, walk, bend, and move to uncover underlying inefficiencies, imbalances, or misalignments.

The goal is proactive: to catch potential problems before they lead to injury. It's also used to understand why recurring 'niggles' might be happening, even without acute pain. By understanding your unique movement 'signature', we can create a plan to improve your efficiency, reduce wear and tear, and build a more resilient foundation for long-term health.

While this assessment is not designed to diagnose or treat acute injuries, it is ideal for proactively identifying areas of high load, poor mechanics, or reduced strength that could increase your future risk of injury. It helps to pinpoint issues such as:

-
Poor postural habits.
-
Hidden muscle imbalances, areas of weakness, or excessive tightness.
-
Inefficient movement patterns during common activities (like your gait, squat, or lunge).

What does a Biomechanical Assessment address
Your assessment is a comprehensive, active session designed to build a complete picture of your body's mechanics.

In-Depth Consultation
We'll begin by discussing your personal goals, daily activities, exercise routines, and any history of minor aches or recurring issues.

Static Assessment
We will first observe your standing posture and alignment to identify any structural asymmetries or baseline patterns.
Functional Movement Screening
This is the core of the assessment. We will guide you through a series of key functional movements (e.g., squatting, lunging, balancing, bending, and reaching). This allows us to see your body in motion and assess ranges of motion, stability, and control.

Summary & Report
Following the assessment, we will provide you with a written report detailing our findings. This will clearly explain any identified imbalances, areas of restriction, or potential weaknesses.
Your Proactive Plan
Your report will include suggested exercises and strategies tailored specifically to you. These are designed to address the findings, improve your movement patterns, and help you achieve your goals.

Measure Your Progress
You can book a re-assessment 6 or 12 months later. This is a fantastic, measurable way to see how your hard work has paid off and to fine-tune your plan as you progress.
